AI adoption in healthcare isn’t waiting for perfect regulation.
Health systems are already using AI to summarize clinical notes, triage patient messages, flag anomalies, optimize staffing, and support decision-making. Vendors are shipping AI features because the market expects it. Buyers are asking for it because competitors already have it.
What’s lagging behind is trust.
Not in the abstract sense - but in the operational sense:
Who owns the AI?
What data does it touch?
How do we know it’s behaving as intended?
And what happens when it doesn’t?
For healthcare organizations, those questions are no longer theoretical. They’re becoming gating factors for adoption.

Healthcare leaders already understand risk. They manage PHI, clinical safety, uptime requirements, and regulatory scrutiny every day.

Ongoing monitoring, not one-time approvals
None of this requires slowing innovation. It requires intentional design.
When teams know the rules, they move faster - not slower.
Why this matters commercially, not just operationally
Healthcare buyers are paying closer attention.
AI-specific questions are now common in RFPs. Vendor risk teams are asking how models are governed, not just whether data is encrypted. “AI-powered” claims without substance are increasingly met with skepticism.
Organizations that can clearly explain how they govern AI - across security, privacy, and risk - stand out.
Not because they promise zero risk.
But because they show control, transparency, and accountability.
In healthcare, that’s the difference between experimentation and scale.
